Bally 1989

EATPM has a lot of fun features and toys. The boogie men don't do anything for game play but they do hop up and down while lights flash like they're in a little disco. That's kinda fun right? Speaking of the lights flashing, I was thinking about adding my own little strobe light modification to add that dancing in a disco effect. Then one day I realized that there were already bulbs there to do just that. They were just burned out. Duh.

As fun as rubber monsters are, one thing I can't stand is rotted dead old boogie men. These poor ol' guys have lost their color and the guy on the left has lost his arms and his mouth parts and his skull is split open. It's time to retire them both.

So I installed some new fresh boogie men. I got them from Marco Specialties Pinball Parts Superstore for $2.50 each, part number 23-6639. Remember one thing about the boogie men. If they are not Finger Frights, then they are not the correct ones.

When I first got my Eatpm machine, it had the wrong friggen flippers. I see this on many of the machines on eBay all the time and I just hate it. These ugly wrong ones have to go!

Here's are the new correct flippers. These came from Marco Specialties Pinball Parts Superstore for $6.95 each, part number 20-9592-6. The red rubbers are purchased separately. Remember that only yellow ridge flippers with red rubbers are correct.

Also, I had to install a sexy card.

The Monster Slide and Party Punch ramps had a few cracks near the entries. It's a common problem but unless they're really bad, you don't have to replace the ramps. It is good to cover the cracks and to prevent them from getting worse and the perfect solution for that is to install a set of stainless steel ramp protectors.

The ramp protectors come as a 4 piece kit. There are several sources for these but I got mine here: Bay Area Amusements for $50 for the set, part number RP-EPM1.

And here they are installed:

Here's the new translight right out of the box. It came from Illinois Pinball for $150, part number 31-1357-2011. The quality of this item is absolutely fantastic and it is shipped flat.

I thought that the BBQ lights were a bit hard to see at times. The light from bulbs is greatly diffused by the translite so I thought that it was a little hard to see which one of the bbq bonus signs was lighted. Too help fix this problem, I added some small reflectors to them in order to focus the light from each bulb onto the sign directly in front of it. I like the effect. The reflectors came from some lamp socket assemblies that I purchased from Happ Controls a long time ago. It was part number 91-1225-00 and cost $2.10. I had to take the reflector off of the base and nip off the plastic tangs and part of the base to make them fit. They have to install from the front side of the panel but the #555 wedge-bulb twist sockets come out from the rear.
